About

Richard was educated in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe).  He started his work career in the Air Force, specialising in the technical field in telecommunications. He ended is career there after six years, while he was responsible for the technical aspect of the air traffic control at the Thornhill base, in Gweru, in 1985.  During his tenure in the air force, Richard worked on:

Ground and aircraft radios Long range, medium range and precision approach radars, ranging in age from the second world war up to the latest high tech systems available, which he oversaw the introduction of. Navigational aids, including V.O.R., V.D.F. and D.M.E.

Richard then moved to South Africa working in the Microwave Communications division at S.T.C. in Boksburg. In 1986, Richard started working in the vehicle security industry, designing and manufacturing car alarms and immobilisers.  For the next ten years, Richard worked with some of the top brands in that industry, managing various aspects of the business, including:

• Manufacture/production
• IT
• Stores and procurement
